Happy Easter.

Every year I put out the Easter decorations, this Playmobil set
gets put on the table for the centre piece.
Everyone has fun arranging different scenes,
moving pieces & challenging someone to spot the difference.
It makes a great inter-active display, & we're all adults!

Another set sits on the tea wagon.

Fun & whimsical. A good combination.  : )

Window Herb Garden

I got some herbs & have planted them in recycled tins in my sunny kitchen window.
The tea tins are all from my trip to England many years ago.

The Jackson's was bought because that is my maiden name.
The Lyle's Golden Syrup tin reminds me of my childhood
when my Grandma used to make me toast with this syrup on it. YUM.

The Mocha powder is from my favourite coffee
shop, Starbucks, & is my dog's name.

Harrod's because it is a famous store in London, & the
Earl Grey tin because I liked the tin & the tea is my favourite.

I got the silver tray underneath the tins at Crate & Barrel.
It is the perfect drip catcher & has a cool burlap pattern on the inside.  : )

Sunny Window

We recently got new windows in the back of our house.
One of which was the kitchen window over the sink.
We had them build a box out so I would have a shelf for growing herbs.
It is a southern exposure so gets lots of full sunlight.
I got my first herb plant, some Basil. It is such a pretty little plant & adds
some life to the window sill. Not to mention it smells really good.

I got this sun catcher for Christmas & just put it up on the
back door in the kitchen. We have french doors & this one doesn't open
so it was the perfect place to hang it.

Of course it reminds me of my dog, Mocha!  : )

New Tool Rack.

I had a local artisan make this new fireplace tool rack for me.
I just told him what I wanted & he created this rack with 7 hooks.
Totally his own design. I love it! It turned out perfectly, works & looks great!

I originally asked for 6 hooks & he made me an extra one because
he said people always find something else they want to hang up.
He was right! I added the fireplace gloves that were thrown in the coal scuttle before. : )

A Little Taste of Spring

These Hyacinths are my favourite colour & smell divine.

Hopefully spring is going to be here soon.  : )

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day.
To celebrate being 1/8 Irish
(my Great Grandmother on my Father's side was Irish)
my son made green pancakes this morning!

Yeah, I know they kind of look lime green, but they were tasty!  : )

Vintage Jars

I went to an Antique Market downtown last week at the St. Lawrence Market.
It is open every Sunday 5 am to 5 pm. It is the first time I've been.
It was a bit nippy out, so the outside vendors were not very busy & I suspect there
will be more outside as the weather gets warmer.
Inside there was quite a selection of things, from jewellery to books,
to paintings & collectibles. Funny thing was I had quite a few items that
were on display. All inherited from family.
Hmmm, maybe I should open a booth myself! LOL!

Scored these two large 1L jars. They are made in Canada, & they
threw in the rubber rings for the lids. They are great for storing dry goods.  : )

Snowy Wonderland.

Wow! Woke up to this winter wonderland of snow. So pretty.
All the branches were just covered with wet, heavy snow.

The backyard

The front yard.
The snow was so heavy the cedars were bending over.

The forest across the street was beautiful.
All of the above snow has since melted & the weather has
become quite a bit warmer, spring is coming.   : )

Thad Turns 20!!

Wow! My eldest son (on the left) turned 20 just over 2 weeks ago.
I'm a little slow in getting the pictures downloaded.
I can't believe he is no longer a teenager. This being said,
that does not mean I think of him as a full grown man quite yet.
He is enjoying his first year at University & being away from home.
I may just have to admit he is growing up sometime soon...

Happy Birthday, Thad! xo : )
